The 2014-15 homecoming parade took place tonight at 6:30 p.m. This year’s theme, Enchantment Under the Sea, was well received by float participants and Coppell residents.
The parade had a large turn out as citizens welcomed a chance to show their community pride.
The annual parade opened with the Coppelll High School Marching Band and Colorguard as it does every year. The Lariettes and the Silver Spurs followed.
“We got to ride scooters right next to the cheerleaders,” senior Silver Spur Shane Trovalli said. “I am very excited we got to raise homecoming spirit.”
The cheerleaders introduced the homecoming court, and Superintendent Dr. Mike Waldrip even made an appearance on the Coppell Board of Trustees float.
Several CHS sports, activities and clubs made appearances in the parade. Notable floats include the drama departments’ which had large cardboard skyscrapers as an advertisement for its fall musical “Thoroughly Modern Millie.”
Elementary students also eagerly participated in the parade. Even the new Richard E. Lee Elementary had its own float.
The Coppell Special Olympics stuck true to the parade theme, Enchantment Under the Sea, and exemplified this underwater motif.
The parade concluded, as always, with the CHS football teams who are in preparation for the big homecoming game on Friday against the Richland Rebels.
Keep in mind other homecoming festivities this week which include CHS’s themed days, pep rally, football game and dance.
