Coppell Independent School District announced on Tuesday that former Coppell Middle School West Principal Vern Edin has been named Interim Administrative Liaison for the district.
In this part-time role, Edin will assume many of the superintendent duties while CISD conducts the search for its replacement of retiring Superintendent Dr. Jeff Turner.
“I am excited about the opportunity to serve,” Edin said. “Serving leadership is a very important job. I am going to do my best to support and encourage folks to make decisions that pertain to their job.”
Edin’s new role begins on June 18 and will last for 11 weeks or until CISD hires a superintendent. Edin retired as CMS West
principal at the end of the 2012-13 school year.
“Mr. Edin has tremendous experience working in Coppell ISD and brings a great deal of educational knowledge to the temporary position,” Coppell ISD Board President Anthony Hill said in a released statement. “He is well-respected in the community, knows the administrative team, and we look forward to his assistance in the area of board communications.”
This semester, Edin has been on the Coppell High School campus assisting with administrative duties.
“I’m excited for it,” Edin said. “I’m excited to help out with whatever needs help.”
