WARNING: beware of mass yelling and colorful strobe lights.
Lorde being more of a mellow type of pop/alternative artist, I was worried that her concert on Tuesday at Southside Ballroom in Dallas would be a “stand there and watch me sing” type of concert rather than an engaging performance with a party atmosphere.
I was more than pleased with the outcome of the night. Her performance was simply flawless. With her signature arm movements, music really flows right out of her.
The opening act Lo-Fang is a chiller, more indie version of Bastille. Even not knowing their songs, it was really easy to get into it
I have been obsessed with Lorde ever since I came across her on Spotify this summer, so when I found out she was coming to town, I knew it was a must go.
Seeing a girl that is only one day older (17) than me, come all the way from New Zealand and have sold out shows and headlining festivals all over the world is so powerful and inspiring. The other great thing about Lorde is the fact that she writes her own songs, which is incredibly rare to see in the pop world.
Whenever Lorde was talking to the audience about the inspiration of her song “Ribs”, my friend that was with me was shocked that someone our age could write such a deep hit. She is the true definition of an artist
She is her own person with her own energy and style. She is completely unique and different from any artist I have ever seen or heard.
