On Friday, the Coppell High School Lariettes drill team hosted its annual spaghetti dinner to raise money and kickoff the first Cowboys football home game. People of all ages from all over the city gathered in the CHS cafeteria to enjoy each other’s company and spaghetti from The Grotto Restaurant in Highland Village. Juniors Alex Ianni and Kimberly Anderson were among the guests enjoying the event.
Q: How long have you been coming to the lariette spaghetti dinner?
A: I’ve been coming for as long as I can remember. It is a tradition here in Coppell. My family and I have always felt the need to be a part of it and enjoy it.
Q: What is your favorite part about the spaghetti dinner?
A: I love the atmosphere here. It is so exciting for everyone to come gather here for a meal before the first big home game. You can tell everyone is so excited and happy to be here.
Q: How do you think this brings Coppell together as a community?
A: Nothing brings people together more than food. Everyone loves spaghetti and being able to come here in this huge lunchroom with family and friends and enjoy each other’s company makes the community feel much more tightly knit.
Q: What is different this year than the past years at the spaghetti dinner.
A: Well for starters, I am here with my friends instead of my parents because I have a car, so that’s awesome. Other than that, not much seems to be different about the dinner in general, which is good. It doesn’t need to change.
Q: What made you decide this year to attend your first spaghetti dinner?
A: I heard so much about it from all of my friends. It seems to be something a lot of people look forward to and so I decided it was finally time to attend one.
Q: What have you heard about it from other people?
A: I’ve heard that the food is great and there are a lot of people that go every year. They just said it was a great way to meet up with people and talk and have fun.
Q: How are you enjoying yourself so far?
A: It’s a lot of fun being here with the whole community anticipating the first home football game. You can practically feel the excitement in the room.
Q: How is the food?
A: The spaghetti is awesome. I also love all of the treats they are selling at all of the different stands. They’re inexpensive and still go good.
Q: Do you think you will come back next year? If yes, why?
A: I definitely want to come back next year. So far, it has been so incredibly fun. I’ve loved being here with my friends and enjoying good food.
