We hear it every day. Every passing period, six times a day. To some of us, it’s life. To others, it does not really matter.
Music was first identified by the Aryans in modern day India from the Prehistoric era. Music first began with flutes, which were made from bones. Since then, there have been various types of music developed such as classical, jazz and hip hop.
To many Coppell High School students, music means the world to them.
“I don’t know where I would be without it,” sophomore Aditi Mukund said. Mukund listens to music for most of the day, it makes her day feel more lively.
Students are also addicted to this piece of art even when they are studying.
“Classical music helps me concentrate,” sophomore Annabelle Kim said, “It navigates my life and it just makes everything make more sense.”
Listening to classical music has also helped her while playing her part as a flutist in the band, so she is very used to a musical environment.
On the other hand, sophomore Manali Gore listens to a type of music that not a lot of students normally hear.
“Bollywood music means alot to me, since I come from a similar background. I’m also from India and I enjoy listening to what has come from the same place as me,” Gore said, “Bollywood music reminds me of who I really am on the inside,” Gore said, “It lets me express who I really am.”
Gore is also a flutist in the band and also does classical Indian dance. She even choreographs her own Indian dances sometimes.
Mukund listens to music that is also not as mainstream.
“Indie music doesn’t only sound good to me, but the lyrics are very poetic,” Mukund said, “The artists seem very down to earth.”
Mukund’s favorite band is The Strokes. When she listens to her band, she feels very relieved and stress-free. Her favorite band has also inspired her.
“It changes your view on many things in reality,” Mukund said. “It teaches you how to appreciate the simplest things in life.”
Not only does Mukund just listen to music, but she also covers music on the piano. Mukund loves listening to her favorite band when she needs to relax and is stressed out.
“The emotional pieces really reflect a lot of real life feelings for me,” Kim said.
Music plays a very big and important role in most teenagers’ lives. Without music, life would be empty to most teenagers.
