With last year’s seniors gone and freshmen on board, the CHS varsity hockey team is expected to go far this year.
Over the summer, the team competed in the varsity summer league and came out with a first place trophy. Some of the teams Coppell played against were Marcus, Flower Mound, Southlake and Frisco, all of whom they will also play during their season. Their record during the tournament was 12-0-1.
“The summer league was fun to play, even though it isn’t considered as part of our actual season,” senior Charlie Busch said. “It prepares us really well for the upcoming year and lets us see what teams we need to look out for. Winning the summer league showed us that all the preparation and practices we have been having are paying off.”
The team is already getting ready for their season by practicing on Monday evenings and Wednesday mornings. If the season turns out like the summer practices, then the Cowboys are destined for a good year.
