CHS has a variety of sports teams and intramurals for every athlete. There is also a very popular ultimate frisbee club team of 36 players. Psychology teacher Jared Stansel is the sponsor and seniors Josh Brunelli and Alex Garcia are the team captains.
The ultimate frisbee season began March 22nd and the team has been working hard by practicing every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday afternoon.
The team partipated in the Lone Star State Championship this Saturday, March 30th at the College Station Parks. The group left Coppell at 4:30 a.m. and arrived at 8 a.m. for their first game.
The team entered the state competition with a 5-1 record and played six games for almost 10 hours straight.
After winning one game after another, the team began their last game and beat the number one team in the state. The game ended with a loopy hammer throw caught by senior Archie Agarwal between two defenders.
“We were constantly getting cramps and were dark and sunburnt, but it was all worth it,” Agarwal said. “I love my team and I am proud to play with them.”
The new first-ranking team is now practicing and preparing for their state tournament in Houston on May 11th, which will qualify them for nationals.
