Isolated amongst parking spaces stands the lone tennis center. There a facility and several courts for the teams to play on. The supervisor of this fortress is none other than Jane Jackson, head tennis coach for the past 23 years.
Jackson has been teaching tennis for 35 years total, spending some time at Nacogdoches High School before coming to CHS. She received her associate degree at Tyler Junior College and her bachelors and masters at Stephen F. Austin.
As coach, she has had many accomplishments with her teams, she has been to state seven times and been to regionals 22 years out of her 35 year coaching span. She was even named 4A coach of the year in 1999 and has won District Coach of the Year seven times.
As coach, Jackson is a leader and inspiration to her students; she herself played tennis in high school and college and was awarded MVP of her high school team and the Sportsmanship Award in college.
Students interested in playing tennis will have the chance to meet with Jackson and get to know her through tennis. The tennis team has three JV teams and one varsity team for students to try out for. Try outs are held during the summer for interested tennis players.
