Once Samantha Neal’s Pre AP English II class finished their latest piece of literature, Lord of the Flies, the students began a group project. In the past, most students and teachers have found power point presentations boring and unhelpful to those trying to learn from these presentations. In order to prevent the unexciting in projects, Neal had her students use a new form of technology for their projects: Voice Thread.
Voice Thread is a presentation builder that allows the creator to insert a Powerpoint presentation. However, it also allows voice recording to guide the presentation along.
“When you hear the change in tone in someone’s voice, you understand which concepts are emphasized and the mood portrayed in quotes from the book,” sophomore Jenna Waters said.
Since the class has to take notes and analyze the questions proposed in other groups’ productions, the students in Neal’s class enjoy the new method because it lessens the bore involved.
