This week, Coppell ISD is celebrating National School Lunch Week, with an emphasis on healthy eating at a low cost.
CISD has made several changes this year to promote healthy eating and balanced meals among CISD students. Vegetarian options are now available at every lunch, and parents, students and CHS chefs have discussed more changes as part of the School Health Advisory Committee.
In addition, the district has instituted a “Super Food of the Month” to highlight local sourcing. For October, the Super Food is tomatoes, and local farmers and producers have provided vine-ripened tomatoes to the district to support the cause.
