This week is magnus for Latin students involved in the Texas Junior Classical League, or commonly referred to as JCL. The annual area competition will be held at Hebron High School this Saturday.
Students have been prepping for two months, studying concepts like Geography & Monuments, Roman Life, and Mythology; prepping costumes and scripts for Dramatic Interpretation and Latin Oratory, as well as designing artistic masterpieces and costumes for the art and costume contests.
“We’ve all studied really hard and worked even if it was the last thing we wanted to spend a Friday [afternoon] doing,” senior Latin Club president and JCL team leader Christina Wagner said, “I think our dedication will show itself Saturday!”
The club participated for the first time in the competition last year sending five students to the state competition.
Hopefully these well-versed pupils of classic civilizations will ‘carpe diem‘ and bring home more awards and accolades for CHS.
