The Coppell Cowboys baseball team is off to a hot start in 2011, and they are just days away from kicking off their district season.
Coppell has been a balanced force early on this season, and they have a 6-1 record against non-district opponents to show for it. Offensively, they have been potent, as they have scored at least seven runs in five of their seven games. The Cowboys pitchers have been nearly as good, as they have held opponents to four runs or less five times in 2011.
Their lineup and rotation depth was especially showcased in the Baylor Medical Tournament over the weekend, as the Cowboys went 3-0 and saw three players in Adam Toth, Tyler Hernandez and Craig Aiken named to the All Tournament Team. In addition, pitcher Sam Swinton was named tournament MVP.
The Cowboys will look to continue their torrid play next Tuesday, March 8, as they begin the district season at 7:30 p.m. at Saginaw.
