The Coppell High School Lacrosse team for two years now has been the dominating force of Texas lacrosse. Last year the team went undefeated and won their second state championship in a row but how will they stack up this year?
Being a part of the team, I have had the opportunity to see our team grow and become what it is today. The last two seasons, my freshman and sophomore years, we have gone undefeated and won two state championships in division two. This year we are moving up to division one and we are definitely going to be challenged much more than we have ever been in D2.
This year our main competition is going to be Highland Park and Saint Marks but we have been practicing tirelessly for this upcoming season. Not to be biased out my own team but our stick skills have improved and we are probably in the best shape of our lives with our coach, Jared Venia, running us every practice.
This sunday we will put our skills to the test in D1 by playing Kingwood High School from Houston. Last year we played them and pulled off a win but it was a tough game so we will have to see if our defense can keep them out of the net. The game will be played this Sunday at 11:00 am at the stadium, the first CHS lacrosse game ever played there, so come out, enjoy the predicted good weather, and cheer on our team as we hopefully can pull of a win against Kingwood in our season opener.
