“I didn’t get up at five in the morning to get second place.”
This saying holds true for the dozens of horseback riders who are members of the North Texas Hunter Jumper Club and sacrifice hours of sleep to attend horse shows.
For most teens, the weekend is a time to sleep in and catch up on the week’s events. Members of the NTHJC, however, devote dozens of weekends to getting up at the crack of dawn to compete at horse shows.
The last horse show of the season was on November 13 to 14 at Las Colinas Equestrian Center. However, the Year End Banquet is on January 22. The points for all of the shows have been totaled up, and the winners for each jump height division have been posted on the website. They will receive prizes at the banquet.
