Shrimp balls, veggie egg rolls and coconut shrimp are sold at the Songkran Festival in the Buddhist Temple of Dallas on Sunday. The Songkran Festival celebrates the Thai New Year and symbolizes good fortune and renewal.

Maanav Subramanian is a senior and staff photographer for The Sidekick. Having had an interest in photography for a while, Maanav wanted to have more opportunities to take photos and expand on his interest. He figured the best way to do so was to join The Sidekick. When not taking photos, Maanav enjoys watching the Dallas Stars. He also likes to play video games with his friends; his favorite games are Valorant and Red Dead Redemption 2.  Maanav also enjoys going to car meets and shows. He is also an Eagle Scout in Troop 840. He is a distinguished leader in the troop and has been in Boy Scouts for the past 7 years.
