Denton Guyer senior outfielder Brianna Williams sprints past home plate as senior infielder Aubriella Martinez slides in, adding two runs for Guyer in the top of the first inning.
The Guyer softball team continued its momentum, scoring five more runs in the first inning. On Wednesday night, Guyer shutout the Cowgirls, 11-0, at the Coppell ISD Baseball/Softball Complex, with the game ending in the fifth inning due to the mercy rule.
“After the first inning, we worked on knowing where the batters are putting the ball, and making sure we were supporting our pitchers,” Coppell senior infielder Natalie Howell said. “I think we had good energy and never gave up, but we could have made more adjustments in the box and know what they were throwing and how to go up to the plate.”
The Cowgirls play Little Elm on Saturday at 11 a.m.
