With three minutes left in overtime, Dallas Parish Episcopal freshman attacker Zach Post scores to give the Panthers a 11-10 victory over the Coppell boys lacrosse team at Lesley Field on Wednesday.
“They had possession for the majority of the second half which didn’t work in our favor,” Coppell coach Brandon Mullins said. “But we tied it up when we were down and we fought back when we could. Unfortunately, that last goal didn’t go our way.”
Coppell’s defense held up until 2:54 left in the fourth quarter as Parish Episcopal sophomore Midfielder Johnathon Phillips tied the game, 9-9.

“Defensively, we had a better game plan locked in and it allowed us to play more aggressively,” Mullins said. “That showed up in our defense, we were able to let in less goals this game then we have had in previous games.”
Parish Episcopal senior midfielder Moss Mccaig gave the Panthers the go-ahead goal with 27 seconds left in the final quarter allowing them to briefly lead, 10-9 . However, with five seconds remaining, Coppell senior midfielder Cale Stricklin assisted senior attacker Jack Rasmussen for the tying goal, sending the game to overtime.
Post’s goal in the sudden-death overtime ended the game.
“I can’t lie, I was frustrated when they tied us in the fourth quarter,” Stricklin said. “But, I knew that there was still plenty of time to make a potential play. I think there were something’s that we could’ve adjusted but overall I liked our dominance early in the game.”
The Cowboys play Prosper on April 3.
“I think in previous games our aggressiveness hasn’t been shown,” Rasmussen said. “Even though we’ve played a lot of defense, now we are getting a good chance at showing our offense.
