When you sit down to study or work on an important assignment, you probably do not want any external factors that might distract you from your work.
If you are in a messy and cluttered environment, putting in your best effort isn’t quite all that easy. Many people around this time begin decluttering their living spaces and implementing spring cleaning, so that they can have a fresh start and feel bright and ready for the new season that is to come.
“When I am working on any important assignments for my classes, I think having a clean and organized space around me is a good factor so I can focus better and get the best grades in all my classes,” Coppell High School sophomore Nikhil Mandala said.
Working in a dirty and cluttered environment can create stress, anxiety and interfere with the ability to concentrate on specific tasks for students.
“When my room has some extra clutter in it and is messy, I don’t feel like my focus is good enough,” Mandala said. “I just feel sort of distracted and lost while working.”
When you start decluttering your living spaces, however, this feeling of low motivation can be reversed. You can get morale boosts, increased focus, a sense of relief and also you obtain a better sense of control in anything you try to put your mind to. One more thing decluttering can do is clear your brain of stress, as a clean and tidy mindset is also projected by having a clean and tidy space around you.
A great way to see how you should clean your space up is to start small. You can begin by cleaning some individual drawers or shelves before moving on to bigger projects like an entire room.
Who knows? You may even find something hidden you never thought you would never see again.
“When I cleaned my room out, I found a bunch of old things I may have lost earlier or things I really don’t use anymore,” sophomore Maulik Bingi said. “It made me realize how good of an idea cleaning my room was, because I probably would have never found these items if I did not decide to clean my room.”
This spring, take some time to declutter a space where you study the most. A clean and tidy space results in a clear and fresh mindset, helping set you up for a strong finish to this school year!
