On Tuesday, Coppell City Council heard a presentation by New Tech High @ Coppell statistics students Rebecca Mckay, Reed Wiethoff, Sarayu Velkur, Ananya Pilla and Sahana Vijayan about their water sustainability project.
They used five randomly selected houses to run a statistical analysis and estimated a recommended buffer of about 67%. This means that you should have 67% more water than your estimated usage to ensure an adequate supply for unexpected needs. For example, if your daily water usage is 100 gallons, a 67% buffer means storing an additional 67 gallons, totaling 167 gallons per day.
“We may not know the accuracy of this but we do see effort,” council member Ramesh Premkumar said, “We recognize your efforts and you are obviously very hardworking and passionate students.”
Action was taken to put the Veterans Memorial project in full swing. $715,041.67 was provided to Fast General Contracting for the site portion, and $1,372,396.33 was provided for the towers portion.
Coppell Entertainment Plaza was also approved. The plaza is a 17,655 square-foot building, consisting of five 13,000 square-foot pickle ball courts, a 2,485 square-foot restaurant and a 2,170 square-foot retail center. The hours of operation are 24 hours daily.
Currently, the Coppell village survey is out. Council members request that everyone take a few minutes to fill out the survey. The Coppell Village Collective survey gathers input from residents aged 50+ to shape a volunteer-led program that supports aging in place with services like transportation, social events, and home care referrals. To learn more about the Coppell Village Collective or to explore ways to get involved, contact Melanie Eychaner via email or by phone at 682-381-0487.
Council members were recognized for attending a very successful Coppell Day in Austin.
On Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., the City of Coppell is holding a community blood drive in the Fire Training Room, 133 E. Parkway Blvd. Everybody giving blood receives a 30-ounce black camouflage tumbler.
