Seven district wins. First place in the district. Eyes on the state championship.
The Coppell boys soccer team plays Denton Guyer on Friday at 6 p.m at Buddy Echols Field. The game was moved up from 7:30 p.m. due to cold temperatures.
Coming off a 3-1 win against Hebron on Tuesday, the Coppell boys soccer team (7-0 in District 5-6A) is already dreaming about an endless winning streak.
“The boys are starting to get a little bit excited and, if we’re saying we want to go all the way, we’re going to have to play,” Coppell coach Stephen Morris said. “We’ve done a lot of work, but the work’s not over.”
The Cowboys are focusing on sustaining their offensive success and minimizing turnovers.
“We just want to maintain our organizational structure that allows us to take risks in the attack without overexposing ourselves too much,” Morris said. “Really, it’s the defensive transitions. The moments where we lose the ball, that’s the most dangerous.”
Coppell anticipates strong offense from Guyer and practices dealing with “chaos” on the field.
“What it’s going to come down to is maintaining our focus and doing the things that have got us to where we are,” Morris said.
