Imagine you are part of Coppell Color Guard, heading to the locker room after a long afternoon practice. You make your way to your backpack when all of a sudden – thud! You have accidentally tripped on one of the many other backpacks and belongings crowded together due to the tightness of the locker room.
This is not just the case for locker rooms but for fine arts rehearsal spaces as well. As of now, many fine arts groups share a practice space with each other, leading to cramped and stuffy conditions. Also, as the interest in fine arts among students increases, the facilities may eventually grow outdated.
Because of this, Coppell ISD is building a new fine arts center at Coppell High School for programs such as band, choir and dance teams like color guard, cheer and the Lariettes. This new development allows for more opportunities for students in fine arts programs, and it empowers creativity as well.
As a school taking pride in its fine arts programs and athletics teams, CHS will greatly benefit from this new fine arts rehearsal center. This new facility allows each fine art to have its own larger space to practice its skills and will be able to accommodate specific features needed for specific fine arts programs.
Increased space in the new fine arts building could also foster further creativity. For instance, having a larger acoustic space could allow the band choir programs to practice together for a new type of performance. Additionally, bigger locker rooms would be considerably helpful in keeping personal belongings, equipment and props without being congested.
In addition, improvements in efficiency will be generated by this center. For example, during marching band season, color guard and band students practice behind the football stadium. The walk between the school and the football field, while carrying equipment, can be relatively long and tedious. The new fine arts center may be able to alleviate some of the time taken away from practicing and learning by making it closer together. This ultimately allows for the improvement of each skill.
As high school gets progressively more challenging, students may feel increasingly overwhelmed. Many students use fine arts as an escape or a safe space where they can use their creativity as an enjoyable comfort. Being involved in fine arts promotes individuality, imagination, resilience and problem-solving, and this new, extraordinary fine arts center will do just that.
