Waves of color bounce off the risers of performers as the auditorium fills with guests.
Coppell High School Choir Tenor-Bass presents its production “The River” at CHS Auditorium on Tuesday. The show consisted of CHS, Coppell Middle Schools East, West and North Tenor-Bass, and offered the audience 30 minutes of various types of instruments.
As the lights dim, choir director Aaron Coronado kicks off by recognizing completed performers and explains the significance of “The River” to this production.
“It all started with the song ‘The River’ by Susan Lava. I was really attached to the piece which ended up being the all-state piece which was tied together from the show,” Coronado said.
The spirit of the theme carried throughout as pieces also included performers with Daniel Conkovich playing traditional drums for the song “Let the River Run” while
CMS East eighth grader Advick Kaushik sang along.
“Being a soloist, I was really nervous in the stands before the concert started, once I walked to the mic it felt unreal,” Kaushik said.
The show closed with Aaron Coronado thanking fellow directors, students and the audience.
“This may’ve been a short show, but these guys have worked so hard,” Coronado said.
