Coppell ISD has shut down all administration buildings and schools today and Friday due to adverse weather conditions caused by snowfall.
All extracurricular activities have also been canceled. Further information from these programs will be shared this weekend.
Report cards will now be released on Monday as opposed to Friday.
According to the National Weather Service, the Metroplex is under a winter storm warning through midday Friday, with snowfall predicted to be 2-5 inches. Remaining precipitation is expected to freeze Friday night, creating icy conditions for roads.
The cold weather will continue Friday, which will be overcast with temperatures in the 20s and low 40s and a small chance of additional precipitation according to The Weather Channel. Conditions are expected to improve by Saturday, which will be sunnier with temperatures in the 30s and high 40s.
The City of Coppell has cancelled trash collection today and parks, trails, and other outdoor spaces will remain open though restrooms and other water fixtures have been winterized and turned off. Further information and updates about closures can be found here.
As of now, CISD has not made an official decision of how days lost to inclement weather will be made up. Possible options include utilizing bad weather days or the additional instructional minutes already present in the district calendar.
