Students often go to the library with the intention of studying, finishing homework or completing college applications. However, recently when students get to the library, they see a big sign saying “No Wi-Fi” and are unable to get their work done at the library.
The City of Coppell issued a statement that an external party gained access to city servers of on Oct. 23
As a precaution, the city servers have been temporarily shut down. The city is working with state and federal law enforcement agencies to ensure servers function properly.
The servers shutting down caused all city facilities and public spaces to not have access to Wi-Fi.
To correct the issue, Cozby Library and Community Commons social media said the library was closed from Nov. 12-14 to restore operations. As of now, Coppell said that services such as materials check out and check in, renewals, library catalog, scanning and faxing, interlibrary loan services and copy machine are available. However, new room requests, Wi-Fi, the internet and printing services remain unavailable.
Librarians were not available to comment on this matter. The city assures the public it is working to resolve the issue, but no specific timeline for full restoration has been provided.
For updates on library services, residents can check Cozby Library’s official social media accounts or contact the library directly.
