Malhotra strives through DCI

Drums Corps International (DCI) is an organization that  explores the artistic and musical depths of marching band. Being a part of DCI includes a very competitive audition process, including thousands of performers and audition tapes. Coppell High School senior colorguard captain Shreya Malhotra secured a spot in DCI this year. Watch The Sidekick staff designer Dayami Granados as she talks to Malhotra about the experiences gained from DCI in the summer, as well as her growth in her skills in colorguard. Coppell junior percussionist Sophie Depew performs “An Ancient Observer” at halftime on Nov. 10. Depew won the Percussive Arts Society Texas Chapter’s Day of Percussion high school individual competition in April for her marimba performance and plans to go into the music field after high school.

She loves Halloween— every year she dresses up and decorates her house in the Halloween spirit. Even though her parents aren’t a fan of Halloween. She also enjoys watching movies in her free time;her favorite movie genres are horror, indie and comedy. She has two cats, an older cat named Mina and a kitten named Moonee. She is also into photography and film/video making. She's still new to using Adobe apps but is willing to learn for the fun of it.
