CHS9 student Niam Patel was elected for the executive board by the ninth grade class. Patel aims to create more amenities on campus and improve his leadership and speaking skills.
Why did you want to join the executive board?
I like being a leader in my grade. I wanted an opportunity to be able to make a change at CHS9.
What were your campaign strategies?
I’m well known in the school so I used that to tell people in my classes. I mostly just told my friends and made new friends who would tell other people I was running.
What do you want to add to student council this year?
I definitely want to make sure there’s no fights, everyone gets along, wears their IDs and everyone splits up responsibilities. I think I can do that by setting an example, being a leader and advocating for myself.
How did you react when you found out that you had been elected?
I was really happy when I found out I was elected. I was told by a lot of people that they would be voting for me, and I was really excited when I found out I got it.
What are you most excited for within student council for the 2024-25 school year?
I’m definitely excited to add new activities in our hour block lunch period because a lot of people are saying it’s getting old just eating and playing basketball the whole time. I know lots of people like to play pickleball or corn hole, and I’d like to add more board games in the hallways.
What do you think your future in student council will look like at CHS?
I definitely want to do StuCo all throughout high school. I definitely want to be the president in my senior class, because I think that would be really good and something impressive to accomplish.
What legacy would you like to leave on both CHS9 and student council?
I always want to be a leader by figuring out what to do and the right things to do. I also want to be a leader in basketball, high school and make the varsity basketball team as well.
