On Friday, the Coppell football team (3-0) takes on Hebron (2-1) at Buddy Echols Field at 7 p.m for the Homecoming game.
Coming off a bye week off a 72-33 victory over Arlington Bowie, Coppell has made adjustments looking to maintain its momentum.
“Going into district, we just got better about what we were doing, cleaning up mistakes that we made inthe first three games, making sure the kids were on the same page, fixing some mistakes and getting the kids ready to play for a long run,” Coppell assistant Heath Naragon said.
According to Naragon, senior running backs O’Marion Mbakwe and Josh Lock, as well as senior receivers Tucker Cusano, Harry Hassmann and Jacoby Coleman, have been doing well for the team.
Going against Hebron to open District 5-6A, Coppell looks to keep an aggressive defensive line and making stops against Hebron.
“Hebron is really athletic, they have a really good defense,” Naragon said. ”They have a big defensive line and offensively they have experience. They have a good quarterback coming back and talented receivers, so keeping those guys in check and making sure that we get some stops is the key.”
