It is that time of year again. The temperature starts to drop, leaves begin changing color and Coppell High School’s homecoming season is in full swing.
With homecoming this week, there is limited time left to ask that special someone to the dance. Never fear, I am here with some Sidekick approved tips to help you land your date to homecoming.
Grand gesture
Let’s be honest, most love a good ol’ grand gesture. But you don’t want to go too over the top and scare them off, so, how do you do it properly?
Homecoming proposal signs are a tried and tested method to pluck the heart strings of your paramour. Find out what the person likes and put together a sign based on that. However, do not be lazy because giving someone a bare, basic sign is not personalized and it really does not make them feel special. Put in effort: add colors and elaborate designs — show them that you care.
If you are more of the shy type, don’t worry. I have something for you as well.
Write a heartfelt message telling them how you feel and how much you would love to go to homecoming with them. When you feel ready, send it. Don’t make it about yourself too much though. Rather, emphasize how lucky you would be to attend homecoming with them. Doing that will make your mystery person feel extra special.
Gifts
If you are like me, then doing something creative, while well intentioned, may end with more paint and glue on you than the actual poster. In that case, gifts are always a great choice.
Again, do your research on that person’s likes (in the least obvious and creepy way possible). Ask their friends and maybe even their teachers. Once you have landed on a concrete idea, go for it. Put together a gift basket or goody bag full of their favorite things and pair them with some flowers. When the time is right, give them your gift and ask them to the dance. I can guarantee showing you put so much thought into getting your gift right will show them you care — so much so that you might land yourself a date.
Now you have the tips, so get out there and get going. You only have a few days left to impress that special somebody of your dreams.
