In the season’s first District 5-6A match, Hebron was took much for the Coppell volleyball team as the Hawks won, 3-0 (25-7, 25-13, 25-15) on Friday at CHS Arena.
Entering with a four-match winning streak, the Cowgirls were unable to match Hebron’s play.
“We did work on them (Coppell) in practice yesterday,” Hebron senior libero Carol Moreno said. “It was like a Coppell practice as if Coppell were on the other side and how do we get out of situations that we could possibly end up in the game,”
According to Coppell volleyball coach Robyn Ross, Coppell knew they would be outnumbered by the Hebron team, and prepared for a tough match but weren’t able to catch up to them, resulting in three sets for Hebron.
Even though there were moments where both teams were tied, Coppell’s efforts didn’t deliver its desired results.
“I think obviously we could have had higher energy
and clearly we could have had a more positive result,” Coppell senior setter Carolina Ufret said. “We’re ready to move on and we’re going to win the next game on Tuesday against Guyer. We’re fired up,”
The Cowgirls play at Denton Guyer at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.
