The score is 24-19 for the Coppell volleyball team in the fourth set of the match. The Cowgirls lead the match with DeSoto, 2-1. DeSoto senior Skylar Ivery serves in hopes of tying the match, but as soon as the ball comes back to their side, DeSoto junior Kelis Gulley hits the ball off court, resulting in a Cowgirl victory.
The final match score was 3-1 (25-21, 18-25, 25-19, 25-19) for the Cowgirls on Tuesday at CHS Arena.
For their Senior Night, the Cowgirls did not have an easy match against the Eagles, constantly going back and forth hoping for the win.
“I love that they had to play a great match on Senior Night instead of just like a blow off match,” Coppell coach Robyn Ross said. “It’s preparing them for the hard district they’re going to face and winning tonight on senior night, it just makes it even better.”
Winning on Senior Night was special for the Cowgirls.
“I think there were definitely very high spirits tonight because of the three of us (Coppell seniors Carolina Ufret, Campbell Scrudder and Reva Shankar). It’s kind of crazy that we’re seniors, but we’re super excited and so happy about how tonight went,” Coppell senior Carolina Ufret said.
Throughout the match both teams showed their best efforts to take the victory, and hard work to get these results.
DeSoto coach Jamie Johnson respect’s Coppell’s team and the challenge of winning on the Cowgirls home floor.
“(Coppell) is a good team, they’re a smart team. Our girls didn’t adjust as well as I would have liked them to, I think really from time to time we just had to make sure that we minimize our errors and that we maximize when they make mistakes,” Johnson said. “I think the game was won and lost in error.”
The Cowgirls play at Frisco Lebanon on Friday.
