The chatter amongst eager parents thickens as they stroll down the halls of Coppell High School.
On Wednesday night, Coppell High School hosted its curriculum night for the 2024-25 school year.
Teachers are excited for the new school year, thrilled to form connections with their students.
“I’m excited to get to know more kids,” AP Precalculus teacher William Harrington said. “I hope to get to know more stories and see where their life is gonna take them.”
Along with seeing new faces, teachers are also thrilled about implementing ways to elevate their students’ education.
“I’m looking forward to lab experiments with my AP students,” Chemistry teacher Rebecca Rosamond-Grammer said. “We get to do some really cool things and explore some really cool concepts so I think that’s gonna be a really fun time.”
Students at Coppell are highly invested in their extracurriculars, motivated to succeed in passions.
“Obviously, we’re looking to do well at district, state, and international competitions and continue to achieve there,” DECA advisor Richard Chamberlain said. “But I’m most looking forward to seeing how our officers are working cohesively towards our new goals of our chapter campaigns and increasing our membership.”
Families were eager to learn more about Coppell’s education and programs.
“My daughter is getting a great education,” Coppell parent Jody McConnell said. “I hope that she gets the joy of learning and being eager to further explore her options for college.”
With a big workload students must maintain, teachers are increasingly emphasizing the importance of taking care of one’s mental health.
“I started incorporating 10 minutes of yoga into my classes,” Astronomy teacher Angela Barnes said. “Now more and more students are enjoying that little bit of a break time. I’ve even started doing outside of class optional activities where they can meet me for meditation, yoga or go to the planetarium or the park.”
CHS Principal Laura Springer expresses her love towards education and students.
“I love seeing our parents come here to support us for what we do,” Springer said. “Their kids are going to have a fantastic year.”
