In August, a new group of freshmen will take its first steps onto the CHS9 campus. Current eighth graders have a choice between New Tech High @ Coppell or CHS9.
Upon walking through the main entrance, students can head straight to the cafeteria. To the right or left lies the path to their classes.
Step into the CHS9 front office where you can drop off an attendance note, visit the school nurse or get to know your counselors a little better.
From schedule change inquiries to assisting with student needs, the CHS9 counselors have you covered. Counselors Amy Blasingame and Katie Walker strive to accommodate the needs of every student that enters their office.
The cafeteria provides a getaway for freshmen. During Hour Block Lunch students can move about the building with friends, check out the library games, play sports in the gym or sit and chat.
A popular spot among CHS9 students is the C-Store. The C-Store has a variety of snacks available for purchase, ranging from fruit and breakfast items to desserts and baked goods.
The library offers books in every genre as well as textbooks available for check out. In addition, it has board games and life-sized chess for students to play during Hour Block Lunch.
B hall is home to all of the Career and Technical Education courses at CHS9. The B hall collaboration space has drafting tables, and a big space for students to spread out and work on bigger projects.
In ninth grade, Coppell ISD students are required to take biology. In CHS9 GT/Honors Biology teacher Laronna Doggett’s classroom, students can learn about the human body, plant life and the ecosystem through interactive activities.
The small gym lends itself to the dance course at CHS9. Those interested in dance can learn different styles from dance teacher Hillary Clark.
The weight room provides a place for student athletes to train. However, the room is also utilized by Physical Education classes during their weight lifting unit.
Art II Honors students create mugs from clay in CHS9 Elsa Reynolds’s class. The art classrooms are located in J hall along with the English classrooms.
CHS9’s auditorium, also known as “The Dome,” is where many theater rehearsals and performances take place. With its unique structure, students love spending time there.
Full of brass, wood and adorned with trophies from wall to wall, the band hall at CHS9 is home to those interested in being a part of the acclaimed program.
For those more theatrically inclined, CHS9’s theater classroom provides an area for one to learn about the dramatic arts. Led by CHS9 directors Eugenia Montoya and Colin Thomas, the theater company puts on shows in different styles throughout the year.
Throughout the building there are a variety of collaboration spaces. These spaces allow students to work with one another in larger areas or take a break when they need it.
In J hall, students can find the English I classrooms. Bursting with decorations and cozy lighting, each English classroom has its own personality, preparing students for the class ahead.
