With less than two minutes left of a match with multiple close shots, junior midfielder Caden Naef sealed the match with a final goal, solidifying the Coppell boys soccer team’s victory against Hebron.
On Tuesday night, Coppell defeated Hebron, 3-0 at Buddy Echols Field, making this their fifth win of the season. Their victory snapped a four-match winning streak by Hebron.
Coppell took the early lead when senior forward Nicholas Eppleman scored 15 minutes into the match. Senior midfielder Nathan Eppleman added a first half goal, ending the half at 2-0.
After the ball went back and forth for the majority of the second half, Naef scored Coppell its third goal with 1:30 left, making the final score 3-0.
The team was ecstatic in their victory considering that Hebron entered in first place for District 6-6A.
“I knew that it was going to be a tough game so I was kind of nervous, but I was mainly excited that we got the chance to play them,” junior forward J McGill said.
Coppell coach Stephen Morris thinks the culmination of everything the team has practiced was showcased in Tuesday night’s victory.
“It takes enough games and enough time to really see the results we saw tonight,” Morris said. “Some of the connections, and strategies and organization really all combined to get where we got tonight.”
Coppell’s next game will be on Feb. 9 against Flower Mound.
