On Saturday, Coppell High School hosted its annual Homecoming dance, and as homecoming week was in full swing last week, plans on whether or not to attend the dance were determined.

In this episode, The Sidekick’s news editor Sahasra Chakilam, and staff writers Neha Nathwani and Anvita Bondada speak to CHS sophomore Johan Padayatti, junior Keeya Rathod, junior Student Council vice president Rudhmila Hoque and AP Biology teacher Dr. Bianca Benitez to see what factors are considered when planning for homecoming.

Sahasra Chakilam, Executive News Editor
Sahasra Chakilam is a senior and the Executive News Editor of The Sidekick. She joined The Sidekick after watching Gilmore Girls and being inspired by Rory Gilmore’s work ethic and passion for journalism. Through the program, she has been able to develop a love for storytelling and connect with her community on a deeper level through reporting.  Outside of The Sidekick, she enjoys consuming all sorts of media. Her favorite music genres are R&B and indie pop, she has rewatched Crazy Rich Asians and How To Lose A Guy in 10 Days maybe 15 times and cannot ever pass on a 2000s teen drama.

Anvita Bondada
Anvita Bondada, CHS9 Editor
Anvita Bondada is a senior and the CHS9 Editor for The Sidekick.  She originally joined The Sidekick because of her love for writing, and has expanded her skill set by trying photography, design and podcasting. She loves to write stories of all kinds, especially features, reviews and columns.  Outside of The Sidekick, she loves consuming all sorts of media ranging from music to movies and enjoys journaling, baking and doing her nails. Neha Nathwani
Neha Nathwani, Staff Writer
Neha Nathwani is currently a senior and second year staff writer in The Sidekick. The way people communicate is a narrative that inspired her, compelling her to join The Sidekick and the Speech and Debate team.  Outside of school she enjoys listening to music. Her top three artists are Tyler, the Creator, Frank Ocean and Lana Del Rey. Although these are her favorites, she tries to explore different genres by finding new artists and rating various albums to broaden her music taste. She collects jazz vinyls and watches her favorite movies, Before Sunrise and La La Land.  In her spare time she enjoys reading tarot cards for her clients and taking pictures of sunsets with her friends. Along with tarot cards she adores learning about astrology. In the future she plans on continuing to work with media and communications. Wendy Le
Wendy Le, Executive Social Media Editor
Wendy Le is in her third year in The Sidekick as a senior and the executive social media editor. Throughout her time in this program, she’s found joy in doing things and going to places she never thought she would’ve: standing on the sidelines, in the back of the Black Box Theatre, political rallies, learning how to use Adobe, taking photos, making social media graphics and writing features.  Le does have hobbies outside of D115. When she’s not scouring to get things edited or feeding The Sidekick social media accounts, she likes to brain rot on TikTok, craft new Pinterest boards, go thrifting and take photos on her digital camera.
