Coppell girls lacrosse seniors Rachel Breunle, Arabelle Warren and Annelise Kirchmer surround a mic at the top of the bleachers while singing Star Spangled Banner in honor of Senior Night as family and friends stand in respect. Other team members scream cheeringly, establishing the collaborative work ethic that brings the Cowgirls another victory.

On Wednesday night, the Cowgirls defeated Plano, 18-3, at Coppell Middle School North.

“Everyone played amazing tonight and it was great to see our teamwork get us another win,” sophomore goalie Nicole Haworth said.

Excitement rises within the first two minutes of the game as junior attacker Kylee Bradenburg scores, making the score 1-0. Soon after, senior attacker Annelise Kirchmer scores making the score 2-0 just 2:40 into the game.

“We try to look at every game as an opportunity to get good reps which means any time we get, we want to make sure we’re building good habits,” Coppell girls lacrosse coach Logan Hendricks said. “In a situation like this when we’re up, we take the opportunity to run plays and try new things that we’ve been wanting to try.”

The Coppell players noted that the defining moment was the last goal, when senior attacker Arabelle Warren scored the final goal of the game, creating a great 18-3 win for the Cowgirls this night.

“We had been trying to get Arabelle to score for the last half and from all the teamwork that we put in, getting her open and getting her around players, it was so worth it to watch her make that final winning shot,” junior midfielder Kate Nelson said.

Coppell takes on Frisco April 13 at 7:00 p.m. at Wakeland High School.

“They definitely spend a ton of their week on this field putting in the reps when no one’s watching, working hard to make eachother better to help keep the culture we have as a team,”  Hendricks said.
