After a 4-1 loss against Flower Mound Marcus on Friday, the Coppell girls soccer team looks to improve its 11-6-2 record.

On Tuesday, Coppell hosts Plano East at Buddy Echols Field at 7 p.m.

Despite shaky communication during its matchup against Marcus, the Cowgirls aim to tighten loose ends and capitalize on every shot on goal and opportunity.

“I feel like what was missing from the game against Marcus was finishing up and executing those final opportunities,” senior midfielder Jennifer Murcia said. “We had several opportunities on goal but were just very unlucky.”

During practice, however, the Cowgirls are spending more time on the mental aspect of the sport from strategy to communication.

“To prepare, we have focused on defensive movements and offensive movements, especially deciding what runs to make,” Murcia said.

As for Tuesday, Murcia and the rest of the team have their sights set on victory.

“We’re in a good spot still because we have had difficult games, but still push ourselves, and the effort has been there,” Murcia said. “Going into Tuesday’s game, I’m expecting the win if we put our heads to it.”
