Halftime is approaching quickly as the seconds on the clock tick by as fast as the ball darting across the field, in and out of possession of both teams. With less than a minute remaining on the clock, Coppell senior attack Spencer Kutchins drives to the goal, the ball rippling the back of the net. The buzzer chimes and the Coppell boys lacrosse team celebrates the last minute goal before halftime, the Cowboys ahead by three.

Last week, the cold wind that blew in brought a feeling of uncertainty heading into last night’s game. However, the Coppell boys lacrosse team exceeded hopes and expectations defeating Flower Mound, 10-5, at Lesley field on Monday.

Coppell senior midfield Jake Logsdon scored a goal early on in the second quarter, establishing a lead for the Cowboys that the Jaguars were ultimately unable to catch back up to.

Coppell’s highest score contributors were Kutchins and Logsdon with two goals and Coppell sophomore attack Edward Griffin with three goals.

“A win is a win, but we have a long way to go,” Coppell boys lacrosse coach Matt Mueller said. “So we’ll enjoy this tonight, but we’re watching film and back to work again tomorrow.”

The Cowboys play again this Friday at Rockwall at 7 p.m.
