As the lights dim, the Coppell High Schools Choir performed the 2022 Madrigals Feast play, “Cinder Ella Phant.” With the stage lights on the Great Hall of the King and Queen, they welcome “king and queens of the realm.”

Directed by Bona Coogle and Aaron Coronado, it’s a spin off of the traditional Cinderella. The play and singing brought cheer while truly encapsulating every person in the Coppell High School Commons on Saturday night, starting with the wassail toast.

“It was incredible, just knowing so many people are passionate for music,”  junior Madrigals singer Kriti Goomer. “To make a performance like this, it’s crazy and I’m so happy.”

The singers opened the show with a welcoming song, “Nova Nova.” Afterwards, the comedic Jester took the center of the stage, thinking of the perfect story to tell the court. They sang cheerfully and soulfully, the songs of Christmas cheer, such as “Fum Fum Fum.”

“The show was so pretty, it felt so close and their singing was absolutely spectacular,” CHS junior Vidita Bhotika. “The play was so funny, everyone did such a good job in it. They’re all so multitalented.”

During the breaks, the King served a bountiful dinner for the guests of the court. They enjoyed grilled vegetables, salads, roasted chicken and delicious desserts. During the dinner, the actors collected notes from the audience and enjoyed interactions with them.

“I found it so fun and I’m so glad to be a part of Madrigals because its truly a magical time,” junior Madrigals singer Vedha Katta. “I’m just so happy to be singing with these people because they’re all so talented.”

The performers kept the audience entertained with the traditional feud theme, this time between The Page and the Jester, played by junior Roma Jani and senior Anagha Dharmavaram. They bickered back and forth, enticing laughter at the tables.

“This is Madrigals pinnacle performance and they’ve been preparing since this June,” Coronado said. “I couldn’t be more proud of them. [this show] was amazing.”

The phenomenal acting and singing from the entire Madrigal Choir brought an incredible experience to everyone in the audience.

The night ended with Madrigal Choir alumni joining the stage, singing “Silent Night” and “Stay, Love.”

“It’s always great to be back at Coppell choir, I love Mrs. Coogle and Mr. Coronado and the ambiance,” CHS 2021 alumna Annelise Holguin said. “Coming back and seeing people even though I don’t know them as well, it’s a sort of implied family.”
