One step closer: Cowboys look to punch playoff ticket at Flower Mound

Inching closer to a playoff berth, the Coppell football team is looking to secure its spot in second place of District 6-6A as it faces Flower Mound at Neil E. Wilson Stadium, kickoff at 7 p.m.

This game could potentially make or break earning a spot at playoffs, facing a formidable opponent that has proven challenging in the past.

“This is a must win for both teams for the playoffs,” Coppell offensive line coach Allen Oh said. “They know they’re going to get the best from us and we’re going to get the best from them

On Friday, Coppell will walk on the field with a new mindset and determination to execute at its full ability. With a cultivated confidence earned from practice, the Cowboys plan not to miss a single beat when the game begins.

“Every week we expect competition, but our main focus is just to worry about ourselves,” Coppell senior running Malkam Wallace said. “We’re offensively focused on how we are going to carry the ball and score on every drive, we want to execute well every play.”

The forecast currently predicts rain throughout the game.This week, the Cowboys have demonstrated its deep water mindset by practicing in gamelike conditions.

“We really prepared for the game by practicing with wet footballs so we can get ready for the different elements and different temperatures as well,” Wallace said.
