After a steep 38-3 loss against Lewisville last week in its first District 6-6A game, the Coppell Football team is back in its home territory at Buddy Echols Field tomorrow, kickoff at 7 p.m. against Flower Mound Marcus.

The Cowboys are in search of the momentum that led it to four consecutive wins.

“This week, we’ve been really locked in and focused,” senior safety Mason Montague said. “In practice, we’ve not only been more physical but we’re trying new things and drills that’ll help us be successful against [Marcus].”

Even with the loss in the back of the team’s mind, morale is high because the Cowboys recognize the importance of the mental aspect of the game.

“The coaches have given us pep talks and really want us to be mentally prepared for the upcoming game because it’s a pretty big district game,” Montague said. “They have us fired up and have our heads in the right place. We’re ready to go.”

After scoring just three points last week, Coppell has not lost confidence in its offense.

The Cowboys’ steadfast drive and fired-up engines have been on full display during practice in the last week, and they are ready to bring it back home.

“I think this week’s game is going to go really well for us,” Montague said. “We’re going to give it to them the whole time. We’ll stop the run on defense and score lots of points on offense.”
