The Coppell tennis team saw victory against Prosper on Friday, 15-4, after six tiebreakers.

The boys team swept doubles and singles. The girls team took Line 2 but lost Lines 1 and 3 in doubles. Coppell won three tiebreakers.

Coppell freshman Lexi Patton started with love-five, won 5-1 at the changeover, came back to 7-5, and ended 7-all. She went into a tiebreak and won, 13-11. Patton’s scores were 4-6, 6-4, and 13-11.

Coppell sophomore Sarayu Thallapareddy went into the fifth tiebreaker. After the scores became 3-6 and 6-2, Thallapareddy went into a tiebreaker for 20 mins. She won the tiebreaker, 12-10.

“I tried to hit deep and stay consistent,” Thallapareddy said. “[Prosper] was inconsistent so I just kept through with [the balls].”

Coppell senior and co-team captain Shereef Kamel and junior Arjun Nijasure won Line 3 doubles against Prosper. Their scores were 4-6, 6-2, 10-8. Nijasure skillfully took a lead, 3-0, starting their second set.

“Shereef and Arjun were able to get a couple of quick breaks of serve to carry the momentum into the third set tiebreak,” Coppell tennis head coach Anthony Smith wrote. “[They] were able to win some crucial points down the stretch to take the tiebreak, 10-8.”
