For those students who have never been able to fit a photography class into their overfilled schedule, yet have always wanted to learn more about the art, the Shutterbugs Club is ideal. Offering the opportunity to both learn how to take photographs and enhance dormant skills, the club will host its first meeting of the year tomorrow, September 16th, in Mrs. Pellegrino’s room (A107). The meeting starts at 4:00 and should last for roughly ten minutes.
This first meeting will cover the basics of the club, upcoming events and T-shirts. Though started last year, this year Shutterbugs members will have the opportunity to interact in a series of different events, ranging from snapping photographs around the school to field trips to popular Dallas attractions, all in the hopes of honing photography skills.
“People in this club by no means have to have any knowledge of photography,” club president senior Audrey Eichenberger said. “They don’t even need to have a fancy camera to use. It’s meant to be instructional and to help students with an interest in photography develop their skills.”
In addition to field trips and photo opportunities, guest speakers may also be on the list of events that members will be entitled to. Flexibility is an option and most of the activities that members in the club will partake in will be based off of choice. In addition to this, all students have the ability to post their pictures – taken in or out of the club – to the group Flickr to generate a sense of community and give others examples to look off of.
So for any students that may have an interest in photography, going to the first meeting tomorrow just to see what the Shutterbugs Club is all about will be well worth the time.
