Cowgirls Break Losing Streak In Win Over Plano East
October 15, 2021
After three consecutive losses, the Coppell volleyball team was looking to claim a win over Plano East. It crushed the challenge with a swift and assertive win, winning all three sets, 25-23, 25-22, 25-13, in dominant fashion at the CHS Arena on Tuesday.
The Cowgirls attributed the win to great communication and the relentlessness they were able to maintain throughout the game.
“Our pursuit of intensity was definitely a lot better than the last time we played,” CHS senior Meagan Lee said. “I think I’ve adjusted to the new people around me and we got into a much better rhythm of play.”
The beginning of the match looked fairly even, the score going back and forth early on and the Cowgirls winning the sets by two or three points. But they managed to keep up a strong defense, allowing them to beat Plano East in both early sets. The final set was where the Coppell offensive stepped up with a quick and impressive victory breaking their losing streak with a 3 – 0 win over Plano East.
“We really established who is what and we have been able to focus on deeper stuff,” CHS junior Taylor Young said. “Our defense was just a lot stronger and I was able to get the ball to the hitters better.”
The Coppell offensive was spearheaded by CHS junior Allie Stricker, who scored five kills in the last set alone. Coupled with their strong defense, the Cowgirls show a very promising game going into their match against Hebron on Friday, with play starting at 6:30 p.m.
