After a two-week quarantine, Coppell volleyball will return to once again play Marcus, this time at home on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. at the CHS Arena.

The team staggered its return to practice over the past week, its only practices before the match entirely together being one on Saturday and a final practice today.

“We just had that twoweek break where we didn’t practice together at all so that was going to be tough but we did have practice on Saturday and honestly, we were looking pretty good considering that break,” Coppell senior setter Mari Taira said. “Setting connections with hitters and hitting in general [were rusty] but everything else looked good.”

Their second time playing Marcus this year, the Cowgirls’ previous matchup resulted in a 3-2 loss.

“Marcus is the one team we know really well because we’ve played them and watched so much film of them,” Taira said. “They have strong hitters and their offense is pretty strong and they do have good defensive players too, so we’re expecting a tough game.”

Even with two weeks out of commission, Coppell remains hopeful as it looks to the rest of the season.

“We have high hopes, looking at everyone else’s records, we’ve prepared a lot to play the rest of our games and even during the quarantine, even though we couldn’t practice together we watched a lot of film,” Taira said. “We’re prepared.”
