Last week, the Coppell Cowgirls track teams competed in the 7-5 district meet. Unlike most sports that have a district season, track only has one chance to prove them, and this is exactly what eleven Coppell Cowgirls did.
The regional qualifiers are sophomore Anna Novosadova in the 100 meter hurdles, sophomore Haley Smith in the 100 meter dash, senior Valerie Osamor in the 400 meter dash, junior Sarah Agnew in the 800 meter run and pole vault, senior Haley Cook for pole vault and junior Cassidy Pickrell for high jump. The Cowgirls 4×200 meter team, senior Maddie Butzer, freshmen Sierra Andres, freshmen Adaiwu Nwaiwu and Smith, also qualified. Lastly, the Cowgirls 4×400 meter relay team, Osamor, Andres and juniors Chiamaka Okoha and Leah yates, also qualified.
The Cowgirls had two record set at the district meet. Novosadova broke the 100-meter hurdle record with a time of 15.39, and Pickrell broke the high jump record with a jump of 5’6”.
