Coppell senior Reagan Stone of the tennis team saw her season pause with only two varsity tournaments remaining before the district tournament. The District 6-6A tournament, originally set for April 3, may be rescheduled beyond the current suspension date of May 4.
“For me, I do a lot of running. Long-distance running, especially in tennis, helps to build stamina and helps you last throughout a match. All the gyms are closed and everything, I’ve been taking advantage of going outside and running outside with friends and family and doing what I’ve been doing, except without the use of an actual gym or anything.
It’s a bummer not being able to meet with your team and practice like you usually would with drills and stuff, but what’s awesome about tennis and with a lot of other sports is that you don’t need an organized practice in order to still get better… Not having an organized practice is hard in terms of not being able to be there with your team and grow as a team, but everyone does so much of their own individual practice already, spring tennis especially being an individual sport, that practicing on our own and having some time alone isn’t the worst thing that could happen. I know there are other sports that would be more affected by this but because tennis is so individual, it’s not something that’s too compromising to the sport itself.”
