Coppell junior pitcher Michaella Baker hits against Cedar Hill on March 6 at the Coppell ISD Softball Complex. Baker has been working out at home using a Performance Course workout due to the UIL suspending all school practices outside of school hours, including the use of school facilities.

Coppell junior pitcher Michaella Baker of the softball team saw her District 6-6A season suspended one game in. Following the Cowgirls’ 18-0 victory over Irving MacArthur, the UIL halted all spring sports for the time being.

“We’ve been sent a Performance Course workout from our coaches and we’re doing an honor system on that and making sure we’re still working out. As a team, the last couple of days we went to Line Drive’s facility and we hit in small groups. We’ve thrown and worked out there as small group teams. Now that we’ve had the new CDC’s 10 plus people and they said the disease is spreading through touch, we’ve had to stop going there, so now we have to work on our own at home. It’s been tough, but we’re getting there. [The Performance Course workout] is body workouts, so you’re on body weight and there’s some sprinting and conditioning work that you can do up and down your driveway or your street. It’s stuff we can do at home to make sure we’re still moving and not just sitting down, watching TV and getting out of shape.”
