Maya Ozymy
Coppell junior midfielder Maya Ozymy and the girls soccer team had only one District 6-6A match left prior to playoffs, which was to be the team’s Senior Night. The match remains to be played following the UIL suspension, and until then, Ozymy and the Cowgirls are forced to stay fit without team practice.
“Honestly, [I’m] just trying to find a way to stay active. Whether it’s going on a bike ride or playing pick-up basketball or just going on a run, it’s just finding ways to stay active that’s not just to do with soccer for me has been a big part of my fitness levels this week. I’ve honestly just been going around my neighborhood or going around Andy Brown Park, the trails back behind there or the trails at [Barbara Bush Middle School] because that’s open and there’s never really anyone there.
Hopefully, it just helps us come together if we do get the chance to come back and play again, because I know there’s a chance, there’s a thought in the back of everyone’s heads that our season could be over. Especially for the seniors, they’ve been having a hard time dealing with not having a senior night and not getting their last chance to play. When we do get the chance to play again, team morale will be higher because we’ve all missed each other. We were texting all the other night about how we missed each other. During group FaceTime, how we just miss being around each other. When we get to practice with each other again, it’ll all come together.”
