O’hana Dumpling House in H-Mart

Within the hustle and bustle of the H-Mart food court resides a tiny hole-in-the-wall shop named O’hana Dumpling House. The small counter is attended to by two sweet ladies who recommended me the most popular and delicious dish. The counter is covered in models of many of their menu items. While the place has a personal touch with the amazing service, the loud atmosphere and busy surroundings took away from the authentic personality. I did like, however, how you have the opportunity to get shopping done before or after you enjoy a meal.

In terms of a meal, the employees suggested I try the pork soup dumplings. This was an amazing recommendation for $7.50. The purchase of a meal comes with a complimentary glass of green tea, which also added a personal touch to the restaurant. The dumplings are served relatively quickly for the number of customers that were there. Ten dumplings arrive in a traditional steaming basket, along with a dipping sauce and some pickled radish to refresh your palate. In terms of eating the dish, the only way to go is to use chopsticks, as forks are not provided. I chose the method of poking to drain each dumpling over a spoon, then taking a bite while sipping some of the soup. Each bite is mixed with a perfect amount of soup, dough and pork, and the mess of each bite stayed limited, with the excess falling onto my spoon. I left the meal feeling satisfied and full, even after only eating half of the dish.
