Coppell junior defender Daniel Nelson takes a throw-in on Feb. 7 against Irving MacArthur at Buddy Echols Field. Nelson is one of 13 Cowboys selected for a District 6-6A award.

“Soccer means a lot to me because he spent my whole life playing soccer and training – it’s kind of become a part of me. When I heard I got the honorable mention, I was a bit surprised and very excited because I really wasn’t expecting it. I was just playing in order to help the team and make a difference on the field. At the beginning of the year I was in between the JV and varsity teams, so to make that award and starting a little behind means a lot. It’s good to know I helped the team out and was able to make a difference, and hopefully next year, I can do the same if not more.”
